About videos cards..?

So a video card is the chip you put into the computer, so are drivers just another word for "update" or "upgrade"? Can someone please explain it to me? Also how do the upgrades or drivers improve your card? Does it make the graphics better?|||a video card is not a chip...its an actual card that connects to your mother board...pic below.

Drivers are basically instructions for your computer on how to use your video card. Since your motherboard and video card are probably made from different companies, the drivers allow them to communitcate with each other and work together.|||Yes a video card is in a way a chip you put into the computer. There is a chip known as the GPU which basically processes video. The driver sounds like what it is. It is a driver. It basically tells your computer how to operate the video card. Drivers can improve your card by making it more efficient. Maybe the developer can make a driver with less code increasing the efficiency. Video card's purpose is mainly to accelerate video, not really to make it look better. If you have ever played a game that is like a slide show, this is where a video card can help, by making the frames go faster therefore smoother.|||The video is the hardware. That is the card you put into the case on the motherboard. This you can see, feel or touch. The drivers is the software that runs the video card. that is a programme that is code ad is loaded on the hard drive. This you cannot see, feel or touch.

It can let you adjust video setting within your video card capabilities to make your graphics look different but it cant make your graphics better than what the card can do.
