I can't find my video card!! I want to update the driver but don't know how.?

I was told to look for "Display Adapters" under the Device Manager, but there isn't such an item listed!! Does this mean I don't have a video card installed?I know for a fact I had one. I am lost, how can I get an updated video card driver for my computer when I dont even know what kind I have or where to find it.Should't Windows XP automatically detect these video cards ?, What steps do I take now? My video performance was great but my games are choppy, my scrolling is wavy and I was told to update my video driver. I never had a problem until my computer was in the shop a few weeks ago to get "cleaned up"|||If you bought your computer from a major manufacturer, dell, emachines, hp and those other ones, you do not have one. You might, but it would be really rare. If you do not see it in the display adapters, you do not have one. If you want to buy a video card, buy one from newegg, they have the lowest prices, if you are in a small budget, like less that or 100 dollars. look for a Radeon X1600, it is one of the best medium performance video cards. If you want something cheaper, try to get one in the 40 dollar range. I'll go get u some links so u can compare prices.|||Your video "card" could be simply built-in to the motherboard (mobo). If you're getting into games and stuff that needs accelerated graphics, consider installing an aftermarket graphics card onto the mobo. This would give you much better results than simply updating the driver on the existing hardware. Google for graphics card reviews.|||U dont' have seperate graphic card(GPU) in ur comp. its inbiult in ur mother board.

u will have to buy one .my advice-

dont' buy one write now, yeah cause windows vista is coming and it is shipping directX 10 in it.So the GPU of today wont' be able to handle a a game made for vista or DirectX10.

So, wait for Vista and a DX 10 compatible card and when available buy it, prefferebly NVidia based.

Yeah, i know this sux.......but what will be the use of a good, high end graphic card which will not be able to play DX10 based games.
