Is there any way to increase a laptops video card's ram?

I was looking at can you run it website and I have found out that I cannot play most games because my video cards ram is to small is there any way to increase a laptops video card ram and do you have an estimate on how much the update would cost or any websites thanks.|||Nope--not usually. Only the fanciest laptops (like mine) have updatable video cards. Even those with discrete (replaceable) graphics cards, the RAM is attached to the device and (generally) can't be expanded. There is nothing in the BIOS that can be changed to increase the amount of RAM a video card uses. There is a cache setting there but it's for overflow--not for everyday operations.|||You can not play most games because your video card shares from RAM most likely.. but to change the amount of ram that is shared for video you will go into the BIOS.|||Sorry, most likely you will not be able to upgrade your laptop's video card. Most video/graphics cards in laptops are integrated, meaning video processes rely on CPU power and the motherboard to produce graphics. This means there is no actual seperate graphics card you can easily remove.

Although some graphics cards have dedicated memory, major manufacturers (nVidia, ATI) do not offer upgrade options for laptops.|||Usually updating a video card in your laptop is really hard to perform .... the most upsetting thing is you might have to fork out money for a new high spec laptop, the easiest thing to upgrade in a laptop is the memory and hard disk drive because no matter how big memory can get, the size of the hardware doesn't increase, but your graphics card might only be a Intel Integrated Card and they are generally very small. And this means if you buy a more updated graphics card with more memory onboard, that the card size might increase there might not be enough room where the Intel Integrated card is... it is better going on your laptop manufacturers website and equiring on the support section. Good luck!|||Ok, laptop video cards come in two types, one is embedded like intel’s GMA cards or Graphics Media Accelerator Cards and an external card like Nvidia’s or ATI’s Graphics Cards… For intel’s GMA, it is solely limited to your RAM (Random Access Memory), the more ram you have, the more you can maximize your graphics card, meaning if your intel GMA says 128mb, you may or may not receive the full 128mb unless you have the maximum ram which can be placed in your laptop, (Old laptops may or may have a maximum capacity of 1 Gb RAM or less but there are a few who can take up 2 Gb max). For Nvidia or ATI gfx (short for graphics) card, you can have “Extended memory” other than the memory solely for the graphics card which depends also on your RAM and the limit of the Card, most gfx card of nvidia have a maximum of 512mb or less depending on the model (Not including new models like the 8series). ATI has different tastes going up to 800mb or less at 2 Gb ram.

Note: There are no softwares to increase your graphics card memory, but there are some that try to make you believe that their program can boost your gaming performance but most are just frauds.

Conclusion: you can try increasing your RAM, but this will not always be the case unless you have nvidia or ati as your graphics card. =) If your using windows vista, turn off your aero transparency and try playing again.

You can email me for more questions. =)

Edit:

Your graphics card is nvidia 6150 go, this graphics card is one of the midrange graphics card placed on laptops just barely trying to run windows vista. I've heard a rumor that some laptops can have their video card change but it would cost alot, it's better to buy a new laptop if you're considering to update from this. nvidia 6150 go can only have a max of 128shared memory and doesn't have its own solo RAM. Buy a new laptop if you need the graphics badly since this video card is one of the embedded type.|||http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie…

This laptop can play 171 games, including the popular World of Warcraft Burning Crusade. The auction bids are up to $100 and probably won't go over $500.

Hope that helps
