Video card questions?

So, like a lot of people, I bought the Sims 3 and installed it but now it says my video card isn't supported.

1. What exactly is a video card?

2. Is it something you can buy and install into your computer yourself or must a pro do it?

3. Are there any programs or updates I can get from the internet to be able to play the game without the graphics messing up?|||The video card is a chip that fits in a slot inside your computer. You can see the back of this chip on the outside of your computer. its where your monitor plugs in. You can install the card yourself. You just have to find out how to open the left side panel of your case. Once you have it open. There's two places your video card might be. Just check where the plug for the monitor goes. If the plug goes into the back of the motherboard, (big chip that everything is plugged into) Then you just need to proceed to installing the card. If your monitor plugs into the back of a chip that is in a slot on your motherboard. You need to unscrew the slot and carefully remove the card. Pop the new card in and youre done. Remember not to screw it in too tight or too loose.

Before you buy your video card, you will need to follow the directions I explained in order to determine what type of card your computer supports. If you could tell me the model number and brand of computer I could tell you which kind.|||Hopefully you have a desktop, otherwise, you are out of luck.

The video card is responsible for outputting the images displayed on your screen.

You can easily install one yourself. All you need to know is the slot type and power supply of your computer.

Video cards are hardware, so software won't help you improve your performance.
