How do i know what video card to get?

So i was trying to update my video card to play video games, i ran a system check at systemrequirementslab.com and found that i need a minimum of a NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT or ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro. I found some great deals on video cards but how do i know which is better? are the newer cards are the higher the number is?|||Best video card to get for the price right now is the 5670 from ATI.

How to fix video card compatibility issue?

Just bought a Radeon hd 5450 graphics card and after doing some research I figured out that despite the fact that they say pci express is backwards compatible, this graphics card which is pci-e 2.1 doesn't work in the intel 915 series pci-e 1.0, which is my motherboard (D915GAV to be exact). Is there anything I can do to fix this problem? p.s. I have already tried updating my BIOS and that does nothing.|||between pci-e 1 and 2.1 there are not only software diffrences but hardware diffrences, like 2.1 having have twice the bandwidth. no pcie 2.1 card will work in 1.0 the only thing you can do is get an older card or a newer motherboard

Why when I check what video card I have under Dxdiag, its blank?

I can't play any new games that require DirectX8 or higher, like Warcraft 3, when I tried to install it with the installer that came with W3, it said I had it, but when i tried to play it, it said I needed DirectX 8 or higher or to update my video card. So how can I get back to gaming?|||install a device driver for the card .. then directx ..|||A) try rebooting again.

B) check to make sure your card supports directx8 or higher. If it does, try downloading directx from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai…

c) you can try reinstalling the devide driver f the graphics card - it should have come on CD with the card or the computer when you bought it

How to update my video card?

I got a new game, Dragon Age 2 but it doesn't let me play because when the game starts it says failed to find a supported video card. Since my card is "supported" im guessing i need to update my video card. But i have no idea how. So if anyone can help please do, include links from where to download and how to perform the update or anything that might help. Many thanks!|||Go to the Nvidia or ATI/AMD support site, whichever your card is, and download the driver for your card. I'm assuming you know your card model since you know it is supported by DA2|||Go to ATI or NVIDIA's website and search for your graphics card there. It should pop up with the drivers you need and there you can update them. If it does not work after that, your graphics card may not be up to par to the game, but I doubt that unless your computer is ridiculously old. Also, if you do not have a dedicated graphics card, as in your system does not have a separate card from your processor, then the integrated graphics may just suck.

If you don't know what is in your system, you can find out by going to Control Panel then to Adjust Screen Resolution and it should be listed there for you.|||Go to the maker's website & download the latest driver for your card. (No-one will give you a link if they don't know what card it is.) Install new driver. If it still will not play take the game back to the shop.

Every time I try to run a video file with any of my players my system crashes?

I've updated the drivers for the video card and downloaded media player 11. Any help ?|||Upgrade your RAM if possible. www.crucial.com can do a free scan and give you upgrade options. Turn off un-needed background apps. Use VLC Media Player or GOM Player.|||u have disagreements there in ur puter.so go to my computer n go to software analisys n see what ur conflicts are|||Try mplayer:

http://www.mplayerhq.hu

It may not solve things but it takes less memory than other media players and when you run it from the command shell (not difficult) you will get useful messages which hopefully don't include errors.

I must say the size of the files I've been getting are larger than the size of equivalent files six months ago, and often it does take more memory to play avis or mkvs than it did then.
