my internal videocard crapped out on my ati radeon express 200 motherboard. I can turn off the internal video via BIOS. When I insert the video card into the pci-e slot the machine will not start the boot sequence. No action on the hard drive at all. ANy ideas what setting I may need to update in BIOS to get the PCI-e slot recognized? My power supply is plenty big at 430W... that was the first suggestion form the tech guy at the cpu store.
Thanks!|||There's no need to get into BIOS to get that internal video disabled. As far as I can see, it will automatically did that for you when you had a PCI-E graphic card inserted.
Besides, if the internal graphic were down, so will be the North-bridge chip-set. You see, internal graphic card does not have a chip of its own. The graphical part is glued into the north-bridge, which controls the memory, pci-express and talks to the south-bridge. If the graphical part was down, how can you be sure it didn't take out the memory / PCI-E function as well? I mean, they were in the same air-plane when the air-plane crashed.
Should you still don't want to acknowledge the fact that your motherboard have die, you can grab yourself a Debug card. (search Debug Card on Ebay you'll find it).
A Debug Card is basically a PCI card where you plug it into your motherboard. Soon as the PC switches on, it will carried on a series of Power-On-Self-Test (POST). The progress of the POST is shown on the debug card as LED letters and digits. With the letters and digits on where it stops, do a search on Google and you'll find which part of the POST (which hardware) it failed.
Note, some debug card also shows 3.3v, 5v and 12v at the same time. Should one of these LED fail, you know its the Power Supply.
BTW, I guess you didn't bring the PC to that Computer tech guy to carry out a check before you buy that Power Supply. Cause if you did, I will never go into that shop again.
... 430w... is that Antec Earthwatt 430 or Corsair CX430? So long as it isn't Cooler Master extreme 430 then that's fine.

PC video card Problems :)?
My pc video card Doesnt want to work?
Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)
This is what i have gateway fx with a 9800GT On VISTA
64 bit !
It worked fine till one day My pc shut it off.
I reinstalled my pc reformatted it and still nothing i think its the pcs automatic update of a bad driver and i stopped driver updates but still even with my old driver that i got from the store doesnt work Driver 175.16..Newest one is 190.62 and same problem Dont work
Pls help me i dont wann spend too much money having someone firx it:)|||If you have warranty you are saved it if you don't you are screwd.

Or Troubleshoot it via device manager.
Maybe that can describe the problem to you better.|||Good ole' Gateway. I guess the cheap copy of the 9800gt has blown it's left nut.
If there is a warranty on the computer use it, if not a new card is probably in order.

I want to update my video card driver and I have Windows XP. Where do I go to do this and how do I do this?|||first u need to figure out what ur card is. if its nvidia, go to their website and click on drivers to search for ur cards newest drivers and then download them. im not sure about ATI but its probably similar. some laptop manufacturers however require that u go to their own website to DL the drivers so u may have to do that too|||b4 u ask a question, plz give in detail wut your video card are..

2. Is it something you can buy and install into your computer yourself or must a pro do it?

If your monitor plugs into the back of a chip that is in a slot on your motherboard. You need to unscrew the slot and carefully remove the card. Pop the new card in and youre done. Remember not to screw it in too tight or too loose.
Before you buy your video card, you will need to follow the directions I explained in order to determine what type of card your computer supports. If you could tell me the model number and brand of computer I could tell you which kind.|||Hopefully you have a desktop, otherwise, you are out of luck.

For the ram i suggest that u get it from ADATA cuz there not to pricey. hope this helps dude. don't but more than 4 gigs of ram if u running 32 bit os.|||You dont need to list all that info, the only thing you need to do is open your computer, and switch out the old RAM for the new. As for the videocard, you do the same, take out the old, and in with the new. If you have a newer video card you will need to connect an alternate power supply for it to run efficiently. hope that helped

How to improve Dell laptop video?
Recently I posted a question on here asking if it is possible to upgrade a video card in a Dell Precision M4400 and was told it cannot be done because the card is on the motherboard for good, so my response is what can I do to improve this matter? Any other upgrades/patches/updates/downloads that can help me?

You could try to over clock the card in there now but then you risk damaging if not killing your laptop for good.
Also, laptops weren't made to keep the laptop super cool so adding any more heat will not help the issue (Which is what would happen if you over clocked it)
I can recommend you uninstall any crud or sopyware or unneeded programs to speed things up a little.
